ABOUT US?

Nonprofit , non governmental organization,  registered by  executive decree No. 62 on the 20 of March 2017, identifying resolution No. 004-PJ-004 from the Government and Justice Ministry of Panama.

Our Experience

We are equipped with a technical team that has more than 20 years of experience in neo tropical conservation in Panama.
We have successfully bred and raised over 30 species of amphibians from 15 distinct genres in captivity. We produce all of the invertebrates to feed our amphibian collection. We have collaborated with many different international researchers and have published these findings in scientific journals.

PROJECTS

  • Ex situ breeding facility for Panamanian golden frog and eight other endangered amphibians.
  • Evaluation of the Conservation Status for the Grande River watershed in the province of Coclé. Partnership with
Pro Cuenca with the Environmental Ministry in Panama.
  • Ecosystem Restoration and Recovery in the Grande River and Anton River watersheds, focusing on the mid elevation and high elevation areas, using Reforestation . Partnerships Ministry of Environment and Foundation NATURA
  • Establishment of campground and rehabilitation of the La Zamia Trail and biological station located in the protected
National Monument , Mount Gaital with funding from trust money (UFISI) from the Environmental Ministry
    of Panama.

Our values are reflective of team members’ prior experiences working at animal care facilities and with organizations
that have been commitied to amphibian conservation and the determination to improve with every new opportunity
and challenge. As Panamanians are very proud people, it is very important that this program is led and operated by
Panamanians, as opposed to entities from outside of the country. All programs should include goals to be culturallyintegrated whenever possible. To instill personal pride, leadership should seek out input from all levels of the team so that all persons will know that they are part of the team. Based on prior experiences, this time we will be doing things the right way and enjoying our work as much as possible.
The COMMUNITY we serve includes guests to any displays or educational program, researchers, students, our donors, all staff (paid or unpaid), and even all animal care or management. Priority to serve the loca community and Panama. We strive to give‐back more than we receive.
